Education Tucson Unified School District is the primary district for Tucson students attending public schools. Schools are numerous in the city up to high school. The well-known University of Arizona’s home is in Tucson, but residents can also attend two-year programs at Pima Community College, which has 6 campuses in the Tucson area. Prescott College and Northern Arizona University also have Tucson campuses. Recreation Tucson contains over 120 fine parks, including the Reid Park Zoo. Residents can also spend a day at one of the five public golf courses in the city. Tucson can boast that it is one of only eight cities which have been recognized by the League of American Bicyclists with at least a gold rating. There is plenty for performing arts enthusiasts to indulge in, with the city’s various local clubs and theatres providing ample entertainment. There are numerous orchestras of different types and mariachi musicians, all of which represent the diverse culture of the area. Tucson is also known for its underground ska, metal, hardcore and punk rock scenes and its rising hip-hop scene. The sports crowd in Tucson supports the University of Arizona Wildcats, with teams in the renowned Pac-10 conference. Baseball’s Arizona Diamondbacks, Chicago White Sox and Colorado Rockies all use Tucson for spring training as well.
